Driving home
And still you worry about your
blood pressure or your job even when
the highway keeps telling you that
there’s a guarantee past the
end of the headlights, a house
to turn into, grass to mow,
some fire to keep warm by.
But you know highways; they
always lie. They never mention
that one day the house will be
under a new freeway, the grass
will be a minimart, and you will
be right about that job.
